Running on Sand is a dramedy about Aumari, an Eritrean asylum seeker in Israel who narrowly avoids deportation when he’s mistaken for a Nigerian soccer star and recruited by a struggling local team. Forced to play along with the mix-up, he navigates fame, friendship, and the constant fear of being discovered. The film blends humor and heart to explore identity, belonging, and the precarious lives of migrants, using sports as a lens for social commentary.
