Sarah Silverman, the stand-up comedian, has a sister who is a rabbi and she makes fun of her parents. What could be more Jewish than that?
Her new concert film, PostMortem, brings together both of these preoccupations in a meditation on the death of her father. The film is crass and loving, reverential and sarcastic in ways that define Silverman’s comedy. If you liked her appeal to Florida Jewish baubies during the last presidential election, there’s a good chance that PostMortem is the film for you. Spoiler alert: Silverman talks a lot about sex.
Our conversation about the film will take place on Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. The film is available on Netflix and should be no trouble to locate even if you are not a current subscriber. If you have any difficulty singing on, please contact Richie Bolusky at rbolusky@bnaiemunah.com.
