Two Rabbis and the Emancipation Proclamation

The Emancipation Proclamation, which legally ended slavery in the United States, was signed nearly two and a half years before June 19, 1865, the date that the order was fully enacted throughout our country. That enactment is what Juneteenth celebrates each year. As a means of understanding these events more fully and the gap between words and actions, Rabbis Fitzerman and Kaiman invite you to participate in a text study of the Emancipation Proclamation in the spot reserved for this week's open forum.
